Speaker Training

Liz Norton Presents Public Speaking comprises a series of offerings intended to help people of all levels of experience to up their presentation game.

Speaker training isn’t just for people who wish to become ‘professional’ speakers. At some point in our lives we are all called upon to present, whether we’re pitching our business, raising awareness of a cause or giving a toast at a wedding. However, for many people the very thought of public speaking is enough to make them break out in a cold sweat.

My courses aim to help you manage your fear of public speaking, learn the basics of presenting and create engaging content to deliver to your audience.

Introduction to Public Speaking

This is a face to face workshop, which lasts approximately 3 hours and is sat in classes of 5-10 people

An interactive course with comprehensive handouts and live practice sessions, the beginners’ course addresses the three basics of presentation: Anxiety, Stagecraft and Script writing.

At the end of the course you will have:

  • An understanding of why presentation makes us anxious
  • Practical exercises to help you deal with pre-talk nerves
  • A list of tips and tricks to help you use body language and eye contact when presenting
  • Knowledge of vocal projection and exercises to help you speak more clearly
  • A ‘how to’ guide for writing short speeches and creating great content
  • Feedback on your current style and the opportunity to take your skills to the next level

Workshops are run on an ‘in-house’ basis for companies with 5 or more employees (less than 5 can be accommodated on a 121 basis – see below).
There is a flat rate of £700 for a half day (3-4 hours) workshop for up to 10 people (with larger companies being split over several sessions).
If you do not have suitable premises a venue can be booked in your locale at cost. Travel and catering are charged on top of the flat rate, although I don’t charge for travel within Kent.

121 training

All of the above can be trained on a 121 basis. This usually takes the form of an initial 2-3 hours of training to cover the basics. It is then up to the client whether to continue through further sessions or stop there. The advantage of working 121 is that time can be taken to concentrate on what you find most challenging with regards to presentation.

You can split the training over as many sessions as you wish and can focus on whatever aspects you require. I am always happy to keep in contact with 121 students to give them feedback or further advice on upcoming speaking engagements.

These personalised sessions can also be delivered to up to 4 people, making them ideal for small companies or even wedding parties!

121 and personalised training is delivered at £75 per person per hour, regardless of numbers. Training can take place either at my office in Canterbury, at a mutually agreed location for groups of 2 or more, or over Skype for individuals (please note that travel outside of Kent incurs an additional charge)
